A: Yes, Facts On File provides free trials to schools, libraries, educational institutions, and select government organizations around the world. To sign up for a free trial, please visit www.fofweb.com/trial. The trials provide full access to the complete database(s) and include any subscriber notifications a paying subscriber would receive.
If your organization does not fit the above criteria, please call 1-800-322-8755 or email onlinesales@factsonfile.com, explaining the nature of your interest in our online products. Institutions located outside of the U.S. should call 1-212-896-4268. If you are a student, please contact your librarian regarding a subscription.
A: Our online sales representatives are available to help you with your purchase. If you have already signed up for a free trial, you will be contacted by an online sales representative to help answer any questions you may have and walk you through the database(s). A: You may mail in your Purchase Orders. We do ask, however, that you attach documentation such as a price quote email or a renewal reminder email to the Purchase Order so that our sales and accounts receivable teams know which database order(s) to process. A: Yes, a variety of promotional materials—including bookmarks, posters, and Search Widgets—are available for each database to encourage usage and expand access in your institution. Please note, any promotional material provided by Facts On File is to be used only within the subscribing institution unless prior authorization is granted.
A: All of our online products are updated on a regular basis to ensure currency and accuracy. Notifications that highlight recent changes to our databases are emailed to customers on a regular basis. These updates include detailed information about new content as well as new features and technical enhancements to the databases.
A: Yes, it is possible to access our databases remotely through a referring URL on the institution’s site, remote authentication, library barcode, or username/password access.
A: Yes, MARC records are available for download. In addition, we have included persistent links to our databases in the 856 field that allow for general authorized access.
A: Yes, Facts On File databases comply with the industry standards for searching, including Boolean searching (AND, OR, NOT), exact phrase searching, proximity searching, and wildcard searching. In addition, our Advanced Search functionality enables users to perform complicated queries in a very easy-to-use format.
