A Chicago native, Allison Amend majored in comparative literature (focusing on Latin American and French literature) at Stanford University. She holds an M.F.A. from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop. Her fiction has received awards from and appeared in The Atlantic, Bellevue Literary Review, Black Warrior Review, One Story, Other Voices, Prairie Schooner, and StoryQuarterly, among other publications. She is the author of Things That Pass for Love and Stations West
